The market fell and the bot is holding coins: what to do
First: nothing is broken. A bot that buys on the way down and does not sell at a loss looks exactly like this in a falling market.
What is happening
The rungs bought at their levels, the price went lower, and there is nowhere yet to sell at their targets. Money became coins, and the coins are worth less than they cost. The loss is on paper so far: it becomes real only if the coins are sold.
What the bot will not do
- Sell at a loss: Nexora bots have no stop-loss.
- Buy below the last rung: when the rungs run out, it waits.
- Sell anything when stopped: orders are cancelled, coins stay in your account.
What you can do
- Wait. If the price returns to the rungs’ targets, they sell by themselves. No one promises it will.
- Choose “Stop buying”: the bot stops buying but goes on selling what it holds. Useful if you do not want to go deeper.
- Choose “Stop”: orders are cancelled, coins stay with you. What to do with them is your call.
- Sell on the exchange yourself and take the loss. Stop the bot first and do not start it again: it counts those coins as its own and will try to sell what is no longer there. For new trading, create a new bot.
What Infinity Grid v2 does
Its crash pause takes on part of this: in a sharp fall the bot stops buying until the price stops making new lows. The pause does not sell what was already bought.
Not ending up here next time
- Choose a grid depth for the fall you are prepared to sit through.
- Put in an amount you can bear to have stuck for weeks.
- Do not give the bot your whole balance.
- Pick a pair you would hold without a bot.
