Pause, Stop, Emergency stop: what each button does
There are several buttons that stop a bot, and only one of them sells coins. It is worth knowing which before you need it.
The main rule
Stopping does not sell anything. “Pause”, “Stop” and “Emergency stop” cancel the bot’s orders and leave every coin it bought in your exchange account. Only “Sell position” sells — and only when you choose it yourself.
“Stop buying”
The bot keeps running but opens no new positions. What it already holds it sells as usual, at its own targets. “Resume buying” turns it back.
It suits the moment when you do not want to go deeper but are prepared to wait for the sale.
“Pause” and “Stop”
Both cancel the bot’s orders and end buying and selling alike. The coins stay with you. The difference is intent: a pause is “back soon”, a stop is “that is all for now”.
The bot remembers its positions either way: start it again and it carries on from the same place. But while it stands it does not sell — the price can reach a target and go back.
“Emergency stop”
A stop “right now”, for when something is going wrong. The bot first stops placing new orders, then cancels its own and asks the exchange whether anything is left. If the exchange does not confirm it, the bot goes to “Error” and gives the reason: it does not stay half-stopped in silence.
Orders you placed on the exchange yourself, and those of your other bots, are left alone. It sells no coins. Its notice always arrives, quiet hours included.
“Stop all” does the same for every running bot at once.
“Sell position”
The only button that sells. The bot sells everything it holds at market and stops. The price is the market’s, not the target, so the result may be a loss — and the app says so before you confirm.
“Write off position”
For when the bot’s coins have already been sold or moved by someone other than the bot — you sold them on the exchange by hand, say. The bot stops counting them as its own: at the price it paid, with no profit and no loss in its books.
Nothing happens on the exchange: this corrects the bot’s records, it is not a trade.
“One cycle”
Not a button but a setting of the bot: it does not begin a new round. It sells what it bought at its own targets and stops by itself when the last position is closed. A way to finish without selling at market — if you are prepared to wait.
Which to choose
- I do not want to buy deeper, but let the sales go on — “Stop buying”.
- I want the bot to finish by itself, unhurried — “One cycle”.
- I want to stop and think — “Pause” or “Stop”.
- Something is wrong and everything has to come off now — “Emergency stop”.
- I want to be in money now and understand it may be at a loss — “Sell position”.
- I have already sold the coins myself — “Write off position”.
